This is my Mexico page. Some of the pages are still under construction, and some are not complete. I will be adding a great deal of information, help, and sources of assistance. Check out what I have already and come back soon to see more. Most of the information is related to retiring and retirement in Ajijic, Chapala, and the Lake Chapala area. There is information on driving in Mexico, the State of Jalisco drivng test, and obtaining a Mexico Driver's Licence. I'm including information on the history of Mexico and some of its characters, Electrical utilities, food, recipes, and real estate. You will see that living in Mexico is full of new experiences. Learning Spanish is not as hard as you may think, but it's like starting the first grade all over again. You'll quickly learn the most important words and phrases you need. The Mexican people are very helpful and willing to teach you more as you go. If you're lucky, you'll find a close friend or two who speak fluent Spanish and are willing to teach you. Then you're on your way. However, there are a lot of good resources on the internet. You don't know how good it feels, to learn a new language, until someone talks to you in it, and you understand what they're saying.
If you can accept the Mexican way of life, whether you speak Spanish or not, you won't feel uncomfortable here. Are you going to make mistakes? Of course you are. Hopefully, they won't be big mistakes and hopefully you will learn from them. Learn to be calm, learn to be patient, and definitely learn anger management. Getting angry or impatient will do you no good here. The Mexican people try their very best to please the uninvited guests in their country. If you get impatient with them, they won't care. If you get angry, you'll probably find yourself with no help at all. Leave your fast-paced, demanding conditioning behind you. Relax, kick back, and enjoy yourself. Most people who move here have retired; so, RETIRE. It takes some time getting used to retirement, believe me, but when you do, you won't recognize the person you really are. I hope you can love it here, as much as we do.
By the way, if you're listening to the lyrics to the music, I'm very happily married and it's very easy to waste another day here. It just happens to be one of my favorite songs. Roseanna and I were just talking about it this evening. Without the stress of every-day work and dealing with corporate issues, we love our life here. We go to bed when we want; we get up when we want. We try to go out for dinner and entertainment once a week. We do our yard work, make sure the garbage is out for pickup on Monday and Thursday, the yard and garden clippings are out for pickup on Wednesday, and the bottled water guys show up every Thursday morning at about 10:30. We don't have a gardener or maid. We got rid of them, because we'd rather do it ourselves. It keeps us busy and we're very happy with the situation. Most of you probably don't know what it's like to just sit with drinks and talk on a terrace, overlooking a beautiful lake and city lights. I only wish my parents could have enjoyed something like this, before they passed.
