In case you haven't figured it out, I have a great love for the wilderness and the creatures who call it home. I was raised in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, in Northern California. It was a small town called Placerville, about half way between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe, on Highway 50. There was national forest land all around us and my back yard was part of it. As a young man, I spent many days hiking and exploring. It gave me a sense of peace and freedom that very few kids enjoy these days. I think it's the spiritual solitude I felt with nature, along with the knowledge that I may be the first human to ever crush a weed or move a stone in the place I was standing.
For that reason, I've included this page. It is a collection of the most beautiful wilderness pictures I've ever seen. Some, I've seen with my own eyes, though I didn't take the picture. Most of them, though, I can only envy the person who was there to take it. There are four slide shows to view, with ten photos in each. Please sit back, relax, and enjoy the peace and beauty our world has to offer. You won't believe your eyes.
